James Birt won the Mike Dolbear Young Drummer of the Year competition in 2006 and has since toured the UK with some of the worlds great drummers such as Billy Ward, Gregg Bissonette and Thomas Lang as well as perform clinic workshops with the great Steve White.
2006 saw James open Europe's biggest drum event, Drummer Live in London's Excel Centre as well as appear as a main artist at the UK National Drum Fair in Birmingham. Not limited to the stage, James appeared on BBC's Xchange TV show and was the subject of countless newspaper and magazine articles, most prominently securing the front cover of Drummer magazine.
Current endorsements include: Mapex drums, Vic Firth sticks, Bigfoot kickdrum beaters, Baskey rug lugs, Remo skins, DfD bass drum skins and Protection Racket cases.
James currently performs with many different bands, Mucky Fingers – Rock/Indie band
,MozyDARE - Pop/ Rock/ Indie band and The Magic Tones Blues Brothers Band - Blues Brothers tribute/function band to name but a few.
James has stacked up recording credits with an England World Cup Anthem contender and working with the same producer, a Eurovision Song Contest entry, all amazing experiences!
