Artists Adam Goldsmith
tribe
When Adam Joined tribe in 2007 he had his work cut out learning the parts the well loved Michael Lee had put down with his tenure in the band. The self taught Yorkshireman grew up on a diet of Watts, Burr/Mcbrain, Benante, Tempesta, Cavalera, Adler, Richardson and Gaskill and had cut his teeth with former bands the se7en machine and Bloodstream as well as some session work for singer songwriter Richard Anderson.
As Adam proudly proclaims 'Appetite for destruction ruined my life' and It's safe to say that Adam has filled those shoes left by Michael Lee and tribe's debut album 'Pray for calm... Need he chaos' is out now. Look out for tribe on the road in late 2009 and early 2010 before working on a follow up album commences.
Tribe formed in September 2006, with an idea to be the band that was the square peg in the round hole of metal music. Originally the band, from Yorkshire in the north of England, began life writing and rehearsing without a full time drummer. Michael Lee of Page/Plant fame was an old friend of Paul's, and he played on the bands first demo recording.
Around this time a MySpace profile was created for the new band to gauge the reaction from the most important people of all...rock music fans. From the start the feedback was incredible, with thousands of people worldwide checking out the band and their music.
Tribe worked on new material throughout 2007 writing for their first release. During this time the band recruited full time drummer Adam Goldsmith. At the end of the year demos where recorded, each song leaning in a slightly different direction yet always maintaining the bands unique, hard edged style. From these songs the final tracks where chosen for Tribe's first release, which the band recorded with award winning German producer Sascha Paeth.
"Pray for calm.. Need the chaos', Tribe's debut album was recorded at Monnow Valley studio in Wales (where the likes of Black Sabbath, Queen and Rush had made some of the most classic rock albums of all time) and Gate Studios in Germany, Where Edguy, Kamelot and Avantasia currently record. Once the album was completed the band undertook some live shows, opening for Saxon among others.
Iron Maiden's Bruce Dickinson also picked up on the bands unique metal sound and championed them on his radio show, regularly playing tracks from the album, hailing the band as a highly innovative British rock act.
Over the summer the band have appeared at some of Europe's most prestigious festivals including Bloodstock and Wacken Rocks, and also have been chosen as a featured artist on MySpace music.
'Pray for calm' (out now on SAOL) has gained critical acclaim from the media, and many of the most respected names in metal music consider Tribe to be a serious contender ...who would argue?
