Young guns from the world of drumming are teaming up with Mapex
Some of the most promising and talented young drummers on the scene are joining the increasing list of international endorsees who are choosing to play Mapex drums
Oliver Askew – The Young Knives
As part of this three-piece band from Oxford, drummer Oli Askew plays a stomping Saturn series kit in Laser Black sparkle. Kit sizes - 24 x 18, 13 x 10, 16 x 16, 18 x 16 & 14 x 7 snare. Having released their album “Voices of Animals and Men” last year to much acclaim, the band continues to grow in popularity.
The Young Knives have just embarked on a tour of of the US, heading to the SXSW festival where we’re sure Oli will put his kit to good use.
Kapil Trivedi – The Mystery Jets
The mystery jets are currently working hard in the studio recording the follow up to their critically acclaimed debut album ‘Making Dens’. The creative rhythmic force behind the band, Kapil Trivedi will be using his recently acquired Orion kit in Ebony burst with Black chrome hardware (22 x 20, 10 x 7, 12 x 8, 14 x 14, 16 x 16). Be sure to keep an eye out for this distinctive kit when the band hit the road later in the year.

Darren Cullen – Shit Disco
Many bands like to think they know how to party. But there ain't no party like a Shitdisco party. How many bands do you know who cart generators half a mile down disused railway tunnels, install light systems and play all night to half a city’s ravers? Who else plays lock-ins where you’re actually locked in by the bouncers? We rest our case.
Glasgow’s Shit Disco (one of many invented terms coined by the ultra-inventive foursome) shot to fame last year playing and partying their way round the ‘turboraves’ of Europe, stunning even hardy Klaxons fans on the NME Rave tour in a fluoro frenzy that lasted all year and shot adrenalin into the dreariest of the last remaining schmindie fans.
Darren Cullen, one of the most energetic hardcore drummers found on the current circuit, has added a Transparent Black Saturn series rock kit to his sonic arsenal. Any Shit Disco show is now sure to deliver those disco-punk beats to tips of your glow stick wielding fingers!
